Sleepy Hollow – Town Hall Healthcare

January 25, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Come join NY State Senate Candidate Robert Kesten at the first stop of his Town Hall Series as he visits Sleepy Hollow on the SD40 NY Senate campaign trail to talk about health care reform and connect with members of the community. Stop by, ask him questions, and get to hear directly from Kesten as to why he wants to represent you as the next NY State Senator.

Press release: “We Are All Just One Illness Away”

With the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on the line in the US Congress, New York’s legislature has a responsibility to its citizens to be proactive and prepared, ensuring that every New Yorker has access to healthcare. With the ACA, millions of our fellow citizens had access to insurance, for some it was the very first time. With the new Tax Law in place, the ACA has been weakened, much of health costs are no longer tax deductible and one serious accident or illness could wipe a family out financially.

The New York State Assembly, on three different occasions, has passed Single Payer Healthcare legislation. It still sits in the New York State Senate Healthcare Committee, dead-on-arrival. Not a debate, not a discussion and not a vote.

There are arguments for and against the Assembly legislation, but instead of taking it to the people, instead of discussing this in an open forum, or at town halls, our State Senators have declared this legislation and all other related legislation will remain sealed within the committee vault, never to see the light of day.

On Thursday, January 25, 2018, healthcare and our options will be the subject of our first Town Hall, taking place in Sleepy Hollow. We will review the Assembly bill, we will discuss issues raised by hospitals and care providers, we will take a look at universal healthcare options and we will have a civil conversation with Robert Kesten, candidate for NYS Senate (District 40) and those who attend the Town Hall.

The event is open to all. Our campaign plans to hold Town Halls in each town in the 40th district between now and election day. Future topics will include Indian Point, Energy, Environment, Education/Property taxes and your home values, The US Tax Plan, Jobs and economic development, housing, mass transit and topics suggested by residents in the Senate district.

We hope to see you on January 25th… after all, healthcare is a human right.
