Dear Friend,

Another school shooting, this time in Texas.

More death and heartache and yet Terrence Murphy and his Republican colleagues in the New York State Senate and the U.S. Congress will not be moved. Mr. Murphy is still a cosponsor to repeal the SAFE Act, New York’s and the nation’s premiere legislation on gun safety.

The SAFE Act has kept our schools safe and communities safer since the horrific mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Sadly, so many have been killed by gun violence across our nation since then, and it won’t stop until state legislators like Mr. Murphy and members of Congress like John Faso are replaced in New York and across the country.

I call on all the people of our community to unite with me and vote Murphy out of office. I ask all other candidates and office holders to stand with me in support of a unified effort to rid our state of those unwilling to compromise—not on the Second Amendment, but on commonsense solutions to a problem that is long out of control.

We must act. We can and must strengthen the SAFE Act with legislation already passed by the New York State Assembly that will keep weapons out of the hands of those who are a danger to themselves and others, make access to weapons of war out of reach, and keep the people of our state safe.

November is a long time away, so we must be vigilant, we must be united, and we must not let up on our resolve to remove Mr. Murphy in November.

Until then, our campaign will hold Mr. Murphy and his colleagues’ feet to the fire, and not rest until meaningful legislation passes the New York State Senate. We look forward to working with groups like Moms Demand Action and the Brady Campaign to Reduce Gun Violence to achieve this goal.

Join us in this effort. For our children, for our communities, our state and our nation. We can’t do it without you.
